Selmers heading to ADIPEC 2026: connecting with the international energy industry
From 2 to 5 November, the international energy industry will gather in Abu Dhabi for ADIPEC 2026. Selmers will be there too, with Jan Peter Biersteker, Sales Director LINEPIPE, and Mark Wessels, Sales Manager LINEPIPE Construction, among those attending.
Bringing the industry together
ADIPEC 2026 is expected to welcome more than 239,000 visitors and over 2,250 exhibiting companies. Alongside the exhibition, the programme includes more than 380 conference sessions covering topics such as energy security, natural gas, infrastructure, digitalisation and carbon management. It brings together companies and professionals from across the international energy industry.
“For me, ADIPEC is almost like a village,” Jan Peter explains. “You walk down an aisle and there’s a good chance you’ll run into someone you know.” The event also offers an opportunity to catch up with international agents and meet contacts they may previously have spoken to only online.
Keeping up with a changing energy market
Mark points to gas and hydrogen infrastructure projects in Africa, alongside new hydrogen and CO₂ infrastructure in Europe. “Regional uncertainty in the Middle East may accelerate projects elsewhere, including Africa and North and South America,” Mark explains. “But that doesn’t mean the Middle East is becoming less important.”
For Selmers, these developments are relevant to both LINEPIPE Coating and Construction. Jan Peter focuses primarily on equipment for facilities that produce coated pipes, while Mark works in pipeline construction, including Field joint blasting, heating and coating, spoolbase and double-jointing facilities. At ADIPEC, both want to learn more about the projects taking shape and the supply chain involved.
More than meeting potential customers
Alongside existing customers and new prospects, Jan Peter and Mark are also interested in meeting potential partners.
For Jan Peter, Africa is one of the markets Selmers is looking to develop further. {ADIPEC offers an opportunity to make new contacts from that region while catching up with Selmers’ existing international network, including local agents}
Mark is exploring opportunities for local representation in the United Arab Emirates. {Having someone in the region can help Selmers follow up on enquiries and better understand what customers need}
“Receiving an enquiry and sending a quotation isn’t always enough, especially in this region,” Mark explains. Jan Peter agrees. Sometimes, you need to visit a customer’s facility in person to fully understand what they are looking for.
