Field joint IMPP

The IMPP system is a specialized coating solution designed for spoolbase operations. It protects welded pipeline joints by providing seamless thermal insulation and corrosion protection, ensuring continuity between factory-applied coatings and field joints.

Solution:

This system applies a high-quality polypropylene coating to welded joints. It uses an injection molding process with precise infrared heating, creating a seamless, durable barrier that withstands harsh offshore and onshore conditions.

Key Features:

  • Infrared Heating: Precise temperature control for optimal coating application.
  • Material Compatibility: Works with both thin-film and multilayer polypropylene coatings.
  • Automated Consumable Management: Level sensors enable automatic replenishment.
  • Consistent Insulation: Delivers continuous thermal protection matching factory-applied coatings.
  • Precision Application: Automated processes ensure uniform coating thickness.
  • Versatility: Adaptable to various pipe diameters and coating specifications.
  • Rapid Processing: Fast heating, injection, and cooling cycles boost efficiency.
  • Durability: Coating resistant to mechanical damage and environmental stresses.
  • Temperature Stability: Maintains performance across a wide operating range.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced Pipeline Protection: Seamless coating minimizes risks of corrosion and thermal losses.
  • Operational Efficiency: Automated systems reduce downtime and ensure consistency.
  • Versatile Application: Suitable for diverse pipeline configurations and sizes, reducing the need for multiple systems.
  • Long-Term Durability: High-quality insulation and robust coating extend pipeline life and reduce maintenance costs.

How It Works:

After welding and surface preparation, the pipeline joint is aligned using laser guidance within the coating area. Infrared heaters then raise the joint to the optimal temperature. Polypropylene material is injected into a surrounding mold, filling the joint area to form a seamless coating. Once cooled, the coating solidifies, providing robust thermal insulation and corrosion protection.

The Full Scope:

In addition to the standard IMPP system, additional equipment options include:

  • Handling equipment
