Blasting conveyor
The adhesive extruder applies a glue layer to bond the anti-corrosion (FBE) layer with the top layer (PE or PP) in a 3-layer pipe coating system. This adhesive layer is typically around 0.25 mm thick. The adhesive and main extruders share similar functionality and configuration, aside from differences in extruder size and die width.
Solution:
This specially designed adhesive extrusion system melts adhesive granules into a uniform mass before applying the coating material onto the pipe. A pressure roller system prevents air entrapment under the top-coat layer. Alternatively, an adhesive powder application system is available, mainly used for small-diameter sleeve applications.
Key Features:
- Versatile Extrusion Options: Compatible with both flat-head and cross-head (ring) extrusion dies. A flat-head extrusion die is used for side-extrusion (wrapping) applications, while a cross-head extrusion die accommodates pipe diameters up to 24” in a sleeve/hose extrusion process.
- Screen & Screen Changer: A screen between the extruder and extrusion die filters out unmolten particles. If the screen becomes too polluted, an alarm signal alerts the operator. The hydraulic screen changer allows for screen replacement during production.
- Pressure Roller System: Ensures proper adhesion of the adhesive layer to the pipe surface and prevents air entrapment.
- Granule Drying & Pre-Heating: Removes moisture from granules to prevent gas formation that could cause coating defects. Pre-heating the granules increases extruder efficiency and prevents unmolten particles.
- Flexible Orientation: In a wrapping application, the sheet can be applied from the side or from the top using a lifting platform.
- Advanced Controls: The system features a modern control panel with an HMI interface for seamless operation.

How It Works:
Multiple wheel conveyor skids are installed in a row along the floor. Each skid features two angled wheels. Products placed at one end of the conveyor advance through the blasting area in a helix motion, driven by the wheels’ angular positioning.
