Job ready system
The Job Ready System is a modular automation solution designed for pipeline fabrication in spool bases and on pipe-laying vessels. It provides real-time insight into the status of each workstation, ensuring that the pipeline being fired, only moves forward when all stations are ready. Additionally, it records cycle times for each workstation, allowing for precise production monitoring and optimization.
Solution:
The system enhances workflow efficiency by visually indicating the readiness of workstations. Operators mark their station as “Job Ready” by pressing a button, which updates the system in real time. A central operator monitors the process via a large screen and initiates pipeline movement only when all stations are ready.
The system is fully integrated with the SPMS (Selmers’ Plant Management System) platform, which logs all takt times and allows for in-depth reporting and analysis.

How It Works:
- When a pipe segment shifts towards position to undergo work, all workstation lights are red, indicating that work is in progress.
- When the work has been performed in the workstation, each operator presses the Job Ready Button indicating task completion, upon which their workstation light turns green.
- A large monitor display along the production line and the central operator control station show the status of all workstations.
- The central operator can initiate pipe movement only when all stations are having green light.
- All cycle times and delay reasons (if applicable) are logged in SPMS, where they can be analysed for process optimization.
