Introduction:
Pipe End Milling is a precision machining process used to prepare the cutback of 5LPPE (Syntactic) foam insulated pipes, prepared for the joint welding/coating process.
Solution:
The Pipe End Milling System offers a comprehensive solution for cutback preparation of 5LPP foam coated pipes. It is engineered to mill with dimensional accuracy and exact angles, creating uniform cutback profiles. This system can handle a wide range of pipe sizes, making it a versatile tool for various pipeline projects.
Key Features:
- Precision control system for accurate depth and angle adjustments
- Automated operation with programmable settings
Benefits:
- Robust design minimizes vibration, enhancing machining accuracy
- Versatile machining options accommodate various pipe dimensions
- Modular design
- Compact footprint optimizes floor space utilization in production facilities
- Integrated safety features including emergency stops and protective guards
How It Works:
Both foam cutting carriages are driven from the home position towards each pipe end. The carriage stops when the pipe ed is reached. Subsequently the pipe starts rotating. When the pipe rotates, the pipe contact slide is pushed against the bare steel pipe end. Subsequently the traverse slide (Z-direction) moves to align the cutting tool with the start of the foam section. Next, the cross slide (X-direction) moves the cutting tool against the rotating pipe. The traverse slide and cross slide move the cutting tool along the pipe, cutting the required shape in the foam layer.
The Full Scope:
The Pipe End Milling System can be installed in a 5LPP (syntactic) foam pipe insulation plant. When installed in an existing facility, additional equipment which might be required are:
- Pipe handling and transport systems
- Automatic pipe loading/unloading
