Introduction:
The conveyor is commonly used to transport products alongside or through multiple process units. Typically, in coating processes, the conveyor is a helix type wheel conveyor or a linear roller conveyor, better known as roller or endo conveyor. Conveyors play an essential role in the production process, particularly for blasting and coating.
Solution:
The typical conveyor in a pipe coating plant is a wheel conveyor that moves the products forward in a screw-like (helix) manner. It is designed to provide the accuracy required for optimal coating results. By maintaining precise control over the process, the wheel conveyor helps to achieve thorough and effective application goals, in turn resulting in consistent coating layer thickness, which saves costs on coating material consumption.
Key Features:
- Optimal Pipe Handling: By moving pipes through the area, the conveyor ensures consistent results while operating continuously in a multi-shift production facility. The conveyor handles the pipes from one station to the next. A process that can be automated.
- Helix Transport Principle: the helix transport principle is a crucial aspect in achieving the precision necessary for high-quality coating results. Ensuring uniform and consistent application.
- Typical Applications for Wheel Conveyor: Blasting conveyor, Coating conveyor.
- Suited for: External 3LPE/PP. SFBE/DFBE, 5LPP, Foam Pipe Coating Plants, UV tubes and more.
Benefits:
- Precision Coating: The innovative helix transport principle ensures accurate and consistent movement of pipes through the main heating system (Induction), coating area and quench tunnel, resulting in precise and uniform coating layer application.
- Control: Easy manual or automatic adjustment (based on recipes) to adjust the conveyor to all available product sizes.
- Enhanced Efficiency: The precise control provided by the helix transport principle minimizes excursive coating consumption and reduces the need for rework. As a result, this leads to increased efficiency and productivity in coating operations.
- Quality Assurance: Selmers’ top-quality conveyors enable operators to have confidence in the quality and consistency of results, reducing the risk of defects and ensuring compliance with blasting and coating standards.
- Versatility: Capable of handling a wide range of pipe sizes accommodating various industrial needs without extensive modifications.
- Modular Design: The system’s modularity allows for easy expansion and reconfiguration, making it adaptable to changing production requirements and easily upgradable.
- Optional Automated Operation: Reduces manual intervention, leading to enhanced process consistency and efficiency during operations.
- Optional Programmable Adjustments: Offers flexibility in angle/pitch and width settings, allowing for tailored coating applications based on specific requirements.
- Continuous Operation: Designed for uninterrupted pipe movement, supporting high-volume production and minimizing downtime.
How It Works:
A number of wheel conveyor skids is installed in line on the floor. Each skid has a number of opposite oriented wheels (a wheel pair) installed in a slight angle. During production, the products will be put on the conveyor on one end. Because of the slight angle, the product will move forward in a helix-motion through the process area.
Selmers also offers comprehensive training programs for operators to ensure proficient operation and maintenance of conveyors according to the helix transport principle. Our training covers system operation, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting techniques, empowering operators to maximize the performance and longevity of the equipment. With proper training and support, operators can achieve optimal results and contribute to the overall success of the treatment process.
