PP Foam Cutting System

PP Foam Cutting System

After a pipe has been coated with PP foam, pipe end cleaning is necessary to create cutbacks and a chamfer. The PP foam cutting system removes the PP foam over a predetermined length in order to create the chamfer.

Advantages:

High accuracy

Different options for profile settings

Compatibility with existing processes

Sustainable

High performance

How it Works

The pipe end cutting system is designed to mechanically clean up the pipe ends from PP foam or PP syntactic glass coating.  The system consists of a carriage on each side of the pipe, on which an x-y table is placed. On the table are two separate sliding tables which are controlled by of servo motors. The cutting blade is on top of the x-y table in order to move the blade in two directions. A guiding roller is placed on the steel surface in order to follow the movement of the rotating pipe.

During the cutting process, the pipe is placed on rotation units and the cutting tables are driven towards the pipe end. The carriages stop when the pipe edge roller touches the pipe end. Subsequently, the servo driven cutting table is moved towards the pipe. By means of the software, the predetermined cut-back can be set-up in the program. After the cutting system is calibrated for the pipe, the operator can start the machine. The machine will start the sequence for cutting the cutback and stops after the cut back is finished. Both end of the pipe are cut simultaneously.
